For MSU students

Get from Spartan Speech what you put into it.

Spartan Speech is a club built by students for students. If you’re a speaker, actor, mentor, performer, writer or rhetorician, or you just love public speaking, this is your club.

College is busy, so get involved as much as you want to. However you take part, you’re a full member.

Help run the tournament

It takes a team to plan the Spartanvitational and an even bigger one to run it. Everyone who helps on the day gets breakfast and lunch.

Planning

Any MSU student can help plan: food, awards, rooms, paper and all the fun details we get to add because it’s our tournament.

Judging

Anyone college-aged or older can judge, from performing arts students to professors. First-time judges get a short workshop on the rules. You’ll be there all day and likely judge elimination rounds.

The tab room

Anyone who competed in MIFA individual events can join the tab room, including past Spartanvitational competitors. All day.

Running ballots

College-aged and up, or younger students who want early tab experience. All day.

Guiding

Know MSU’s campus? Help schools find their rooms through the preliminary rounds.

The booth

Recruit for your club or staff the Spartan Speech table, from round 3 to the start of finals.

Beyond the tournament

As a registered student organization the sky is the limit: college tournaments, coaching workshops, banquets for high school state finalists, and more. All it takes is a little heart and elbow grease.
